What are the common causes of errors in sheet metal processing

January 25th at 3:36pm

The performance of sheet metal processing is not only related to the interests of enterprises, but also to safety. While bringing economic benefits to enterprises, it can also effectively reduce the possibility of safety accidents.

Therefore, it is particularly important to avoid part deformation during the machining process.

Operators need to consider various factors and take corresponding measures to prevent deformation during the machining process, so that the final part can be used normally. In order to achieve this goal, it is necessary to analyze the causes of deformation in part processing, find reliable measures for part deformation, and lay a solid foundation for achieving the strategic goals of modern enterprises.

Analyzing the causes of deformation in sheet metal parts processing

1. Internal forces can cause changes in the machining accuracy of parts

During lathe machining, centripetal force is usually used to clamp parts with the three or four jaw chuck of the lathe, and then process sheet metal parts.

At the same time, in order to ensure that the parts will not loosen under force and reduce the influence of internal radial force, the clamping force must be greater than the cutting force of the sheet metal.

The clamping force increases with the increase of cutting force, and then decreases with the decrease of cutting force.

This operation can enable sheet metal parts to withstand stable forces during the machining process.

However, after releasing the three or four jaw chuck, the processed sheet metal parts will be very different from the original parts, some are polygonal, some are elliptical, and the deviation is significant.

2. Easy to deform after heat treatment

For sheet metal parts, due to their large long diameter, the straw cap is likely to bend after heat treatment.

On the one hand, there will be swelling in the middle and an increase in plane deviation. On the other hand, due to various external factors, the parts will bend.

These deformation problems are not only caused by the internal stress changes of the parts after heat treatment, but also by the operator's lack of solid professional knowledge and limited understanding of the structural stability of the parts, thereby increasing the possibility of part deformation.

3. Elastic deformation caused by external forces

There are several main reasons for the elastic deformation of parts in sheet metal processing.

Firstly, if the internal structure of certain parts contains thin sheets, there will be higher requirements for the operation method. Otherwise, when the operator positions and clamps the part, it does not match the design of the drawing and can easily cause elastic deformation. Production.

The second issue is the unevenness of the lathe and fixture. Therefore, when fixing the parts, the forces on both sides of the parts are uneven, which can cause the parts with less force to move during the cutting process and cause deformation of the parts.

The third is the unreasonable positioning of the parts during the machining process, which reduces the rigidity of the parts. Fourthly, the presence of cutting force is also one of the reasons for the elastic deformation of parts. The elastic deformation caused by these different reasons explains the influence of external forces on the machining quality of sheet metal parts.
